Marvin Schick

Dr. Marvin Schick ^[1] is best known for his roles in Education, especially Jewish Education.

Marvin Schick is a former Hunter College political-science professor ^[2] who also taught at The New School and has taken many controversial stances ^{[3] [4]} .^[5] He continues to write about a range of matters.^[6]

His writings have appeared in The Jewish Press and competitor The Jewish Week and they have at times been in the center of controversies involving both ^[7] .^[8][9][10]

Dr. Schick served in the second mayoral administration ^[11] of NYC Mayor John V. Lindsay (about which he wrote in 2000 "the first time ... and probably the last time" ^[12]) as liaison to the Jewish community ^[13] and a Mayoral Spokesman ^[14] and administrative assistant.^[15]

Marvin Schick, who has been President of the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School, for over 30 years.,^[16] is also currently an educational consultant for the Avi Chai Foundation ^[17][18] and has been described as an expert on Jewish Day Schools.^[19]

COLPA

Dr. Schick founded National Jewish Commission on Law and Public Affairs (COLPA) (1965) and served as its first president.^[20]

Personal

He was born the day before his twin brother Allen (by 15 minutes ^[21]) on July 3, 1934.

Their father died before their 4th birthday. Their mother, Rebbetzin Renee Schick, founded the famous Schick's Bakery in Boro Park in 1941 ^[22] to support the family.
