MATRIX was founded on February 7, 1983 in Atlanta by Bill Gower, Frank Glenn, John Scarbrough, Lambert Chandler, and Ron McGinty.

MATRIX is an IT staffing provider for both contract consulting and permanent positions, averaging 2,500 placements yearly.[citation needed] The company maintains a database currently exceeding 145,000 IT professionals, pre-screened by MATRIX recruiters with face-to-face interviews, reference checks, and skills testing.
Professional services
MATRIX offers Web application & portal development (both .NET or Java), legacy application development and maintenance, software testing services, telecom and infrastructure support services (help desk, desktop support, network support) to satisfy a wide range of IT and Telecom business needs. The MATRIX Professional Services team consists of onshore and offshore resources, supported by a Project Management Office ( PMO) governed by industry standards such as the Project Management Institute (PMI).
