Median rhomboid glossitis (also known as "Central papillary atrophy"^[1]) is a condition characterized by a shiny oval or diamond-shaped elevation, invariably situated on the dorsum of the tongue in the midline immediately in front of the circumvallate papillae.^[2]:803
