The results of this treatment are the same as whole breast radiation in reducing recurrence, but it is much more convenient for women. Breast MRI allows you to visualize multiple lesions more accurately than routine ultrasound or mammogram to assure the plan of treatment is appropriate to allow for breast conservation as much as possible. For women who do require a mastectomy, immediate reconstruction is an option that combines breast removal with reconstruction in one surgical experience.
