Mekhliganj (community development block) (Bengali: মেখলিগঞ্জ সমষ্টি উন্নয়ন ব্লক) is an administrative division in Mekhliganj subdivision of Cooch Behar district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Mekhliganj and Kuchlibari police stations serve this block. Headquarters of this block is at Changrabandha.[1][2]

Mekhliganj is located at 26°21′N 88°55′E / 26.35°N 88.92°E / 26.35; 88.92.

Mekhliganj community development block has an area of 288.64  km2.[2]

Gram panchayats

Gram panchayats of Mekhliganj block/ panchayat samiti are: Bagdokra Fulkadabri, Bhotbari, Changrabandha, Jamaldaha, Kuchlibari, Niztaraf, Ranirhat and Uchalpukuri.[3]

Demographics

As per 2001 census, Mekhliganj block had a total population of 132,859, out of which 68,866 were males and 63,993 were females. Mekhliganj block registered a population growth of 19.67 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the district was 14.15 per cent.[2]Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84 per cent.[4]

Lliteracy

Mekhliganj block had a literacy rate of 61.52 per cent - males 73.24 per cent and females 48.81 per cent.[3]
