The Melbourne Stars is a franchise in Australia's newly announced Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League.[1] The Stars will wear a green kit.[2]

The Stars will play their home matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. They will be coached by Victorian Bushrangers and Delhi Daredevils coach Greg Shipperd.[3] Their inaugural captain is Australian T20 and Victorian Bushrangers captain Cameron White.[4]

The Stars have been described as representing the "traditional" Melbourne but won’t be afraid to blow it off so that they can create their own history. They will play with style but never arrogance and like the city they represent, they’re passionate about the game and expect great things from their great players. Their features have described as totally opposite to the Renegades.[5]
