This page lists proposed article mergers as a supplement to the merge categories and templates; it does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s) to the articles before listing them here.

Category mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.

Template mergers should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Templates for discussion.

How to propose a merger

Proposing a merger can be done in three steps:

1. Create a place for discussion. Go to the discussion page (also known as the talk page) of one of the articles and create a section to discuss the merger. If there's already a discussion on the talk page regarding the merger, you can omit this step. The section name can be anything, for example ==Proposed merger from Page1==.
2. Put one of the merger tags at the top of the articles you wish to be merged. The templates {{merge}}, {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}} are the most common ones. Remember to make sure that the Discuss link in each tag points to the section you've created in step 1 – this is to prevent having two separate discussions on different talk pages.
3. If the proposed merge is controversial or potentially difficult to carry out, follow the directions under #Requests for assistance and feedback to add it to the list.

Automatically generated log

For each month, a list of up to 200 requests is generated by a bot. When the merge templates have been removed from the articles in question, they will be taken off the list.
Note: The bot may not be removing merged pages from the list/log in some cases. (note added: Dec. 16 2010)

Requests for assistance and feedback

In general, this section should be used to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers that are either tricky or of a controversial nature. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. You must tag the articles, as described above, as well. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.

• If you want to show off your work, use the talk page.
• If you need help with renaming or moving, consult Help:Moving a page.
• Cut and paste move fixes: To request page histories to be merged, list them at cut and paste move repairs.

Current requests

• Merge Baursaki and boortsog about the same food (Idot (talk) 08:53, 16 October 2011 (UTC))
• Merge A.C. Ancona to U.S. Ancona 1905, discuss there. CapPixel (talk) 08:44, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge recently created BHP Billiton Ravensthorpe Nickel Project into the existing Ravensthorpe Nickel Mine article as it is about the same subject. The creator of BHP Billiton Ravensthorpe Nickel Project however objects, suggesting to have an article about the BHP-phase of the mine only. Calistemon (talk) 01:58, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
• Merge No. 664 Squadron RAF and No. 664 Squadron RCAF. I'm not sure which should be the target (probably, the former), but both seem to describe the same military unit, with some duplication, but unique information in both articles. Checking some online sources, there is also some confusion elsewhere as to the correct name. If nothing else, I think one should become a redirect to the other. Lynbarn (talk) 00:00, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Huissier de justice into Bailiff. Opposition long ago by 1 person and after 3 months without anyone else commenting, the merger tags had been removed without topic argumentation by a third person. Recently reactivated merger proposal strongly (and lately most impolitely) opposed by the person that had removed the earlier tags, because assumed 'differences' that are largely exaggerated and basically irrelevant. Necessary for sheer logic, for matching the 'Bailiff' articles' concept, as well as prescribed so as to follow WP article naming conventions. (Lengthy discussion at Talk:Bailiff#Merger proposal)▲ SomeHuman 2011-02-01 19:52 (UTC)
• Merge Lewisham London Borough Council into London Borough of Lewisham. The Council and the Borough are essentially the same thing in terms of usage. EdwinHJ | Talk 22:38, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Owens, Delaware into Owens Station, Delaware. These are the same place. Superman7515 (talk) 22:48, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Sub-Officer and Non-Commissioned Officer -The terms are identical and, I believe mainly different only because of an error in translating terms like Sous-Officier into the English Non-Commissioned Officer. The literal translation is not the proper one. I started a discussion here: Talk:Sub-Officer. Can you help me in guiding this proposal? Korporaal1 (talk) 09:22, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
• Merge doner kebab, shawarma, and al pastor into gyros. Content fork, maintained for ethnic reasons, which needs more neutral discussion; the different names are listed in the different articles, such as 'in country X a doner is called a shawarma'. There is a second question of naming: gyros is inappropriate (either plural or a homagraphic rare form); either gyro (food) (a common term) or doner (an older and ethnically neutral term) may be more appropriate. — kwami (talk) 20:37, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
• Merge minor tarot cards into a single article starting with all articles in Category:Suit of Coins into the article Suit of coins and then the same for other suits.Tetron76 (talk) 15:26, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Lang Michener into McMillan LLP, as the firms have now merged under the latter firm name. 69.157.44.4 (talk) 23:21, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Cultural heritage management and cultural resources management; were awkwardly split earlier (2006) due to unverified claim of distinction, have evolved since (the later is a mess trying to cover every usage of the term); need to figure out which one to go to. Morgan Riley (talk) 18:41, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Union violence and Anti-union violence into Industrial violence, discuss here.--Goldsztajn (talk) 06:22, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Korea JoongAng Daily into JoongAng Ilbo Dwanyewest (talk) 04:04, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Hmong growth into Hmong people. The second article is much more complete and thorough, and contains almost everything that the first article has. MissingHailstone (talk) 04:30, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Playhouse Disney France into Disney Junior (France). It has to merged because of they are almost same, and Disney Junior replaced Playhouse Disney in May 28.Please discuss. --LTSC1980 (talk) 14:12, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Spirits of hartshorn into Smelling salts. I don't really know anything about this topic, but the articles are about the same substance. The former is just a stub anyways. 3 June 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Jan Crouch into Paul Crouch and rename "Paul and Jan Crouch." Discuss here. Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 05:03, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Traditions and customs regarding deciduous teeth into Tooth fairy. Discuss here. — O'Dea (talk) 21:13, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Fun 2shh: Dudes In the 10th Century and Fun2shh... Dudes in the 10th Century Two articles about same topic. We hope (talk) 19:40, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Quousque tandem abutere, Catilina, patientia nostra? to Catiline Orations. This is an article about the first line of the speech. The line has been misspelt. Most of the contents describe the entire speech. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about the line, except the dubious and unsourced assertion that it is sometimes used to unmask hypocrisy. --131.111.128.77 (talk) 20:12, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Buffalo Braves into Los Angeles Clippers. With this edit, the user removed the info and linked to the actual Braves page. I think that the Braves article is better suited to be merged into the LAC article. KING OF WIKIPEDIA - GRIM LITTLEZ (talk) 04:42, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Playhouse Disney Asia to Disney Junior (Asia)--Q7gcosmolite (talk) 04:08, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Fourth Battle of Brega into Battle of Brega–Ajdabiya road On the same basis as 2nd Ajdabiya was merged into this article. Besides other rebel attacks on Brega are included in that article as well. --EllsworthSK (talk) 15:39, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Detente (band) to Fear of God (American band) because notability for the former article does not seem to be established (official website also conflates the two: http://www.fear-of-god.com/). Discussion here. Jarhed (talk) 17:23, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Umai into Umay. This will be uncontroversial. The duplication must have come about because of two different ways of spelling the same name. The article Umay is longer than the other, has existed more than a year longer, and uses standard Turkish spelling (which, in the absence of any other spelling criterion, ought to prevail). Discuss. Johanna-Hypatia (talk) 03:46, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Hélène et les Garçons and Helen And the Boys. To articles about the same TV series, one with the original French tile, another with the English translation thereof. Discussion on Talk:Hélène et les Garçons --Bjs (talk) 18:59, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Pancreatic ductal carcinomaPancreatic cancer. These articles refer to the same thing. The contents of the origin article can be readily integrated to the destination article. A redirect of the current article's title to the destination article would also be appropriate. FeatherPluma (talk) 01:58, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge La Pointe (community), Wisconsin into La Pointe, Wisconsin. One article is about the township, and the other is about the unincorporated community that is located in the township. I believe that La Pointe (community), Wisconsin is unnecessary, because La Pointe, Wisconsin clearly addresses both topics (the township, as well as the unincorporated community). La Pointe, Wisconsin even has it's own section about the unincorporated community, making the separate article about the community clearly unnecessary. Billertl (talk) 04:47, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Ages in Chaos into Immanuel Velikovsky. Former is mostly a recap of this, and related, books by the latter (whose article already contains his claims on the subject). I am proposing that the short 'Controversy and criticism' section (the only section containing third-party commentary) from the former be merged. Stalled proposal, seeking wider scrutiny. Discussion is at Talk:Immanuel Velikovsky#Merger proposal. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 04:56, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
• Merge docufiction into mockumentary. The docufiction article is extremely obtuse and refers to nothing that mockumentary doesn't already cover. From its bibliography, it seems to refer to the term for "non-comedic mockumentary", but the term is ill-defined, exists very little outside of Wikipedia itself, and cites NO sources to its claim that it is a widespread term. The merge has been stalled, as the primary author of the article seems to erase all attempts at changing this, restoring the vague definitions and adding more befuddling details that prove nothing to its case. See also Talk:Docufiction#Merge proposal. 142.179.122.11 (talk) 20:13, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Karimganj_district into Karimganj there is redundancy. Both these article talk about the Karimganj district of Assam — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahtapa (talk • contribs) 21:05, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Wharton olefin synthesis into Wharton reaction, as they appear to describe the same process. Edward Vielmetti (talk) 20:00, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Food truck to Mobile catering. This has been pending for a long time, but there is just one comment on the Talk Page. GeorgeLouis (talk) 01:30, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
• Merge 1948 Palestine war into 1948 Arab-Israeli War, discuss here. We need to decide either to treat all the conflict from 1947 partition plan onwards as one war, or to separate it into the 1947-48 Civil War, followed by Arab-Israeli war after the declaration of independence in May 1948. The current layout of articles is only going to confuse readers. If this is about a war in 1948 only, as the name implies, then it is about exactly the same topic as 1948 Arab-Israeli war.Greyshark09 (talk) 14:36, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Muskerry into Muskerry GAA, discuss here. The contents are almost identical - this only contains a list of GAA clubs. Other historical stuff is best left to the other article or the Múscraige article. Laurel Lodged (talk) 13:34, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Hua-Yi distinction into Han chauvinism, discuss here. The Hua is the original term for the people and culture which later became Han; it's a special and historical case of the latter. Further, both pages suffer from a glut of useless unattached reference lists and poor formatting. Combining them would allow a single well-done page to be formed discussing the historic and present situation.
• Merge Statue of Thomas Munro into Thomas Munro, 1st Baronet, discuss here.

• Merge Old Orlando Railroad Depot into Church Street Station (Orlando). Both article are for the same building, although the Church Street Station article focuses a lot on post railroad station development. ----DanTD (talk) 15:46, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
• UPDATE - Did it myself on November 16, 2011. ----DanTD (talk) 13:41, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
• Merge List of automobile manufacturers into List of car brands. All info in List of automobile manufacturers is already present in List of car brands, which makes the former page obsolete I believe. There is no clear division between brands and manufacturers now. Maintaining two separate lists will only be confusing. Mark in wiki (talk) 11:17, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
• Merge National Basketball League into NBL. We don't really need a disambiguation page when all its information were already contained in another simpler and more informative disambiguation page. 2sc945 (talk) 09:55, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
• Merge North Harbour Heat into Harbour Heat as both articles are about the same team. I have already combined the useful information from both articles into one lot. 2sc945 (talk) 09:55, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Benny Anthony into BJ Anthony as both articles are about the same person. I have already combined the useful information from both articles into one lot. 2sc945 (talk) 09:55, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
• For the bosses, here is another request. I think I am an experienced wiki editor now. Can I request an upgrade on my status so that in the future I can merge articles if they are deemed appropriate? 2sc945 (talk) 09:55, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
• Merge District 2, Sirte into Sirte. The district is only notable as the place where Gaddafi made his last stand, and doesn't really need its own article, it can be described with enough depth in the Sirte article. Jeancey (talk) 18:32, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
• Merge Alma, Israel and Alma, Palestine into Alma, Galilee. Existing articles describe different periods of the same place and need to be merged.Greyshark09 (talk) 18:54, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
