Mexicanal Network is a Mexican based television Network launched in 2005 by Castalia Communications and Cablecom and serves Mexicans living and working in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Mexicanal programming lineup features a dynamic range of Spanish-language content encompassing news, cultural programming, culturally relevant programs, sports and popular entertainment from public broadcasters, independent producers and local access stations throughout Mexico.

In addition, the MEXICANAL Network has earned several coveted Promax/BDA Promotion and Marketing Awards for its outstanding promotional spots and campaigns.

MEXICANAL Network has garnered appreciation for its efforts to create awareness among the Hispanic community about important social and educational programs. One such example is the IME Scholarship Program, a fund that aims to elevate the educational level of first-generation Hispanics in the United States and Canada.

History

Castalia Communications was founded in 1991 to serve as a catalyst for new communications ventures worldwide. Over the past 18 years, Castalia has become a leading independent distributor of broadcast, satellite, cable and web-based programming and technology internationally. Castalia and Cablecom, one of the largest cable operators in Mexico, recognized the need for programming from numerous regions throughout Mexico because the majority of Mexicans living in the U.S. come from places other than Mexico City. This led to the creation, launch, distribution and management of Mexicanal in 2005, the first regional news, information and entertainment television network for Mexicans in the US, Mexico and Canada. Signing programming affiliations with broadcasters from different states, MEXICANAL Network is now able to provide precisely that kind of programming.

The Network has been recognized for its innovative accomplishments. The channel made headlines when it opened its state-of-the-art production and transmission facility in San Luis Potosi, in central Mexico. Utilizing a unique file delivery system for programming which greatly reduced time and costs for scheduling, transmission and storage and eliminated the use of videotape, the facility was a first among Latin American broadcasters.

Since its launch, Mexicanal has been distributed across the United States through the DirecTV Mas package (channel 412). Now, with the process of digitalization, the options have multiplied. It is now broadcast on an open signal via the "multicasting" platform in the following cities:

Programming

MEXICANAL Network’s robust programming lineup features its very own daily news program, "MX24 Noticias" (MX24 News) evening and late night edition, covering the top stories from the Mexican states, as well as national and international news. It is anchored by Cecilia Mendez with the collaboration of Raul Espinosa and Miguel Gallegos.

Other regularly scheduled programming includes: Ten daily newscasts from major cities in Mexico plus.

• "De Kiosko en Kiosko", with host Cornelio Garcia visiting different municipalities in Jalisco to explore their culture, customs and traditions.
• "Vida y Estilo", a daily magazine show anchored by Marisol Castillo and Alberto Benitta.
• "Reportajes de Alvarado", hosted by Eduardo Alvarado featuring the colorful towns of Nuevo León.
• "Estampas de Mi Provincia", where Claudia Gutierrez and Alberto Gomez show us the traditions and culture of Aguascalientes.
• "Cuadril·tero F·brica de Campeones", a monthly original production of MEXICANAL that features boxing fights promoting the young talents in all of Mexico.
• "Supergrupero", another MEXICANAL monthly production with the hottest "grupero" music of the moment.
• "Club C7", a children’s show where the main characters are kids who invite the audience to explore and discover everything around them.
• "El Grito de Independencia" (The Cry of Independence), "La Ruta de Mexico" (The Route of Mexico), a show that portrays the fervor of the festivities and traditions of the Mexica
