Michael Weeden is a Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, one of the three members serving the Strafford 6th District since 2010. He is currently the second youngest member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Michael is also currently Dover city councilor elect for Ward 6. In 2010 he was the highest vote-getter in the Strafford County District 6 race that saw an incumbent Democrat lose out. In 2011 he beat out incumbent Gina Cruikshank to become Dover's Ward 6 city councilor. Weeden is currently a junior at the University of New Hampshire.

Early life, education and career

Weeden, the son of John and Debra Weeden, was born in Dover, New Hampshire, on March 11, 1991. Throughout his youth he exhibited a great love for community service and a drive to attain a greater education. He entered Dover High School as a published poet and a two-time National Award winner. Weeden received the All-American Scholar Award at Large and the National History and Government Award. Weeden was also named a recipient of the National Leadership and Service Award. While attending Dover High School, Weeden was an active member in student council. In 2006, he was inducted as a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Dover High School in June 2009 with a 3.5 GPA. In the Fall of 2009 Weeden entered the University of New Hampshire with a declared major in Political Science.

Early political career

On June 7, 2010, Weeden filed for candidacy in the 2010 election. A Republican had not won a seat in the Strafford 6th District since 2004. Weeden faced a difficult campaign. Throughout the summer of 2010 Weeden was met with broad enthusiasm from the local community and received sweeping support. On November 2, 2010 Weeden received the most votes in the Strafford County district 6 race, beating out 4 term Democratic incumbent Roland Hofemann by 70 votes.

On December 1, 2010 Weeden was sworn in as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives by Governor John H. Lynch. In January he was placed on the Constitutional Review and Statutory Recodification committee.

On April 17, 2011 Weeden announced on his website that he would be seeking a position on the Dover City Council. On July 2, 2011 Weeden formally announced that he would run for the Ward 6 City Council seat.

On November 8, 2011 Weeden won his bid for city council 522-455 against incumbent Gina Cruikshank.

Dover Republican Committee

In early January 2011 Republican activist Chris Buck decided to create the "Dover Republican Committee." On January 25, 2011 Republicans from the Seacoast region caucused in support of the newly formed committee. During the committee meeting Michael Weeden announced that he would be seeking the position of Vice Chair, which he successfully sought.

Weeden has worked closely with Chairman Chris Buck to orchestrate many successful Republican events. On March 25, 2011 the Dover GOP held a Republican Committee Dinner with guest speaker Ron Paul. Over 250 people were in attendance. Weeden has stated that he wants to invite more Presidential candidates to Dover during the primary season.

Weeden announced on his official website that on February 11, 2011 he will be starting a Political action committee aimed at supporting Conservative candidates in the New Hampshire seacoast region.
