The Ming-Kotte War was a conflict between the Ming Dynasty of present-day China and the Kingdom of Kotte, a former kingdom located in the southwest of present day Sri Lanka in 1410 or 1411. The war was to stop piracy and a quest for tooth relic of Buddha. Leading 2000 marines, the Chinese admiral Zheng He broke through the capital of Kotte and captured King Alakeshwara. The king along with the Queen and other elites were taken under captivity to China. They were returned in 1414 with a Chinese puppet nominee to the throne who would be quickly eliminated as Sri Lanka quickly became unified.[1]
