Linux MintPPC, also known as MintPPC, is a free and open source operating system for the PowerPC architecture. MintPPC was first released in May 2010. The most recent version, MintPPC 11, was released on November 14, 2011. Linux MintPPC is fast and focuses on desktop users.

MintPPC is a Linux distribution for 32 and 64 bits PowerPC computers which is based on Linux Mint LXDE, ported to Debian/PPC; however, it is not part of Linux Mint, neither an "official" nor a "community" edition.

The idea behind MintPPC is to have a fast good looking lightweight desktop manager, which runs well on older G3, G4 and G5 machines. MintPPC is directed to desktop users who want a very fast system without the need to install software themselves. It is easy to use and it is complete. An advantage of this distribution for PowerPC users is that a few bugs, which are always present in Debian/Ubuntu, have been overcome. After installing MintPPC things like battery status meter, laptop sleep mode and sound will work out of the box.

MintPPC is not affiliated with Linux Mint but it uses some source code from Linux Mint. MintPPC was first released as Linux Mint LXDE Debian Lenny in May 2010. In November 2011 MintPPC 11 was released which was based on Linux Mint LXDE 11 (Katya) and Debian Wheezy. The new version includes Debian-installer which will now make it easier for people to install MintPPC without the need to go into a terminal. Because of a conflict with the Linux Mint team, the name of the distribution was changed into MintPPC.

MintPPC is developed by Jeroen Diederen, a Dutch Linux enthusiast who also owns a general website^[1] about running Linux on Macs. Desktop wallpapers were designed by Ferdl^[2].
