Mustapha Yatabaré (born 26 January 1986 in Beauvais) is a French born Malian football striker. He currently plays for the French side En Avant de Guingamp.

Career

Yatabaré was born in the French town of Beauvais, and began his career at his hometown club AS Beauvais. He stayed at the club until 2005, before signing for Amiens SC, to be part of the youth system there. In 2006 he joined Championnat National side Villemomble Sports, scoring eight goals in 25 appearances, before earning a move to Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot in 2008.

On 2 January 2009, it was reported that English clubs West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City were interested in signing Yatabaré during the January transfer window.[1]

Yatabaré moved to Ligue 1 side US Boulogne in January 2010.

International career

In November 2008, Yatabaré earnt him a call up to the Mali national team following his impressive club displays. He made his international debut on 19 November 2008 against Algeria in Rouen, with the score finishing 1–1.[2] On 10 January 2010, in the opening game of the 2010 African Cup of Nations, he scored a dramatic equaliser, as Mali came from 0–4 down to draw 4–4 with Angola.[3]

Personal

Yatabaré was born in France to Malian parents. He has a younger brother, Sambou Yatabaré, who plays for Ligue 2 side SM Caen. Sambou, a midfielder, is also seen as a bright prospect for the future, and although he has yet to make his breakthrough into the Caen first team, has harboured interest from English Premiership sides Everton and Newcastle United.[4]
