Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi (born 15 May 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Northampton Town.

Early life

Ofori-Twumasi was born in Accra, Ghana and moved to England at the age of nine.[1][2] He grew up on a housing estate in west London.[1]

Club career

Chelsea

Ofori-Twumasi started his career as a Chelsea Youth Team player, eventually becoming captain.[1] Ofori-Twumasi signed his first professional contract with Chelsea in 2007.

It was announced on 13 November 2009, that Ofori-Twumasi had joined League Two club Dagenham & Redbridge on a one-month loan deal.[3] He made his Football League debut on 14 November for Dagenham & Redbridge in their 1–0 away victory against Accrington Stanley.[4] His loan was extended on 17 December, until 9 January 2010.[5]

Peterborough United

Ofori-Twumasi signed for League One club Peterborough United on a three-year contract on 1 July 2010. He signed from Chelsea on a free transfer.[6]

International career

Despite being born in Ghana, Ofori-Twumasi represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-20 levels.[1][2][3] Before England under-20s faced Ghana under-20s Ofori-Twumasi stated he has no doubts over his allegiance and said; "The game will be emotional, but I’m English now and that’s who I want to play for, so there will be no love lost between us."[2]

Family

Ofori-Twumasi's younger brother, Jeffrey Twumasi currently plays for Hayes & Yeading United.[1]
