Career

Early life

A member of Weston Warriors youth soccer club, Weiss continued to play at Stoneman Douglas High School where he was named All-State and All-Broward County. At 15 years old Weiss also spend time in England at the Stockport County academy [1]. At 12 years of age Nate featured in Nike's first freestyle video internet competition "Who's Next".

Professional

Nate spent 2007-8 playing with a club in the Spanish Tercera U.D Arenal. It proved to be valuable experience as it helped him develop his skills and physical ability[2] After spending the 2008 season with Longford Town in Ireland, Weiss joined Swedish club Djurgårdens IF on trial.[3] Weiss left Sweden though to join Serbian club FK Metalac Gornji Milanovac, but financial difficulties prevented him from a prolonged stay. On October 7, 2009, Weiss arrived at Hapoel Beersheba looking to impress manager Guy Azouri.[4][5] During Weiss' time in Israel, he trained with Israeli coach George Borba and acquired Israeli citizenship by virtue of the Law of Return, hoping to latch on with a club in Israel.[6]

When the only offers for Weiss were coming from Liga Leumit clubs, he decided to take a contract offer in Latvia with FK Jelgava.[7] Weiss made his league debut on April 18, 2010 in a league match against Skonto FC.[8] In all competition with FK Jelgava Weiss played in 20 matches scoring a total of 4 goals as a defender. While at Jelgava Weiss was able to contribute significantly to the teams success by helping them win the Latvian cup and reach the 2nd round of Europa League losing out to FK Molde. After the 2010 he chose not to stay at the club in order to find an opportunity to get better exposure for the national team[9] In July Nate played in a friendly game with IK Sirius against Leicester City FC. After performing well he received interested from several Allsvenskan clubs in Sweden. With the offers from Swedish clubs only beginning in the 2012 season Weiss chose to play in Råslätt SK, the former club of Preki, for the last 2 months of the season. [10]
