Nemanja Bjelica (Serbian Cyrillic: Немања Бјелица; born May 9, 1988 in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian professional basketball player. He is a 2.09 m (6 ft 10¼ in)^[1][2] tall small forward and he can also play as a point forward. He is currently playing for the Spanish team Caja Laboral.

Player profile

Although 2.09m tall, Bjelica is a shooter and small forward. He is known as a good ball handler and athletic. During the 2008–09 season with Red Star Belgrade, he performed well, and he was particularly noted for his performance during the Eurocup for his outside shooting.

Pro career

Bjelica began his professional career with the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions in the Austrian League in the 2007–08 season. He moved to the Adriatic League club Red Star Belgrade in 2008.

Bjelica was drafted by the Washington Wizards with the 35th pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. His draft rights were then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.^[3]

During 2010 summer, he signed a five-year contract with Spanish club Caja Laboral.^[4]

Serbian national team

Bjelica played with the senior Serbian national basketball team at the EuroBasket 2009, where he won the silver medal.
