Velopark Metrolink station is a station under construction as part of Phase 3a of the Manchester Metrolink. Prior to building work, the proposed stop had been known as New East (for Velodrome) and later as Sportcity-Velodrome.

The station is scheduled to open in the summer of 2012[1] (although may open earlier as a terminus stop for trams heading to and from Manchester) and will be located on the East Manchester line on Ashton New Road next to the junction of Alan Turing Way[2]. The stop is also located outside the Asda-Walmart supermarket and near Manchester City F.C's ground, the City of Manchester Stadium, which is also served by the Eastlands City Stadium stop, which is located outside the stadium.

Services

Trams are scheduled along the East Manchester line westbound towards Manchester Piccadilly station before continuing through the city centre towards other destinations, whilst eastbound trams will head towards Ashton-under-Lyne. Trams will run every 12 minutes Monday-Saturday daytime, increasing to every 6 minutes at peak times. On Sundays and Bank Holidays, there will be a 15 minute service[1].
