Vladimir Gurov

Vladimir Gurov is a Russian scientist who developed a floating zone/horizontal crystallization process for industrial production of alexandrite, ruby and chrysoberyl and head of above department at Tairus. Born in Stanislav, Ukrainian SSR to ethnic Russian parents, on April 22, 1952. Graduated with honors from Novibirsk State University in 1974 with a Degree in Applied Physics. Master's Degree, 1974. Doctor of Physics, 1977. Honored by Floating Point Society as its leading researcher and awarded an Honorary Degree for his discoveries, and bestowed a title of “Man of the Century.” Professional photographer, known for establishing technique, using tungsten elements in floating zone process.
