Nick Conrad

Nick Conrad (born 29 November 1984 in Norwich, UK) is a British radio and television presenter. He presents a daily phone-in programme on BBC Radio Norfolk in Norwich, which he describes as the programme 'that gets the whole county talking'. He also used to present a once weekly current affairs programme with London based talk radio station LBC 97.3[1] and [2] on BBC digital radio channel BBC 6 Music[3] where he presented a Saturday night comedy programme between 2006 and 2007. In 2005 he established Smoking Pigeon Media [4] in Manchester UK which made online media content for a number of travel, electronics and educational companies and establishments. In Television he has worked on network formats for Five(Channel 5), Channel 4 and most prominently ITV1 & ITV2 including fronting the television programme Tried & Tested. He on occasion appears on television chat shows including The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Newsnight Review, Sky News and This Morning. In his career so far he has helped win 2 Nation & Region Radio Academy Awards. He was represented by London talent agent John Noel.

Personal life

Nick has openly discussed his family life on air in a number of programmes and radio interviews. Nick Conrad's mother was from the West Indian island of Grenada, he often makes reference to his ethnicity on air branding himself the UK's 'Whitest Black Man'. His mother died in 1988. In reflection of his personal situation he often passionately expresses interest in matters of faith, family, heritage and multiculturalism in the UK. He regularly talks about the physiological effect of bereavement on his LBC 97.3 broadcasts. In an interview with Michael Daniels at the Lancashire Talks Festival in 2008 he gave a speech about being ‘young and opinionated in a politically silent generation’ the speech was part printed in the ELAM Magazine’s spring edition. Nick Conrad is a keen Norwich City F.C. fan and often talks of his love of the club on whichever radio station he is on. Before Nick's career in radio took off he desperately wanted to be a professional footballer and to play for "The Canaries" having been inspired by the dazzling skills of Ade Akinbiyi during his time at Carrow Road. He also is a frequent contributor to cooking, historical and travel programmes.

He has seemed sympathetic to policies of left of centre parties but often criticises the Liberal Democrats and the Labour Party.

Education

Nick Conrad was educated in Norfolk (Sheringham High school and Paston College). On air he often talks about his time at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.
