Gameplay
The game features 30 exercise games targeting cardiovascular activity, bigger legs, core muscles, upper and lower body strength, balance, motor skill development and foot and hand-eye coordination. Each of them require jumping rope with the Backyardigans, go river rafting with Diego, leap over hurdles with Kai-lan or pogo stick with Dora. Players can also participate in a stamina-building relay race featuring all of the game's characters.[3]

Development
Nickelodeon Fit was developed in collaboration with physical education and exercise science expert Dr. Jackie Goodway. 2K Play first shown the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010 (E3 2010), along with other shooters, third-person action and sports games they published.[4] It was later announced at 2K's press release 5 days later. Steve Lux, vice president of business development for 2K Play, said that he was "excited to introduce a product that helps address the evolving recommendations for children to engage in physical activity, in a game where breaking a sweat with your Nickelodeon friends is not only fun but can be heart healthy.". Shaan Kandawalla, Vice President of Digital Retail Games for Nickelodeon, was delighted that "Nickelodeon Fit combines our most beloved preschool characters with an innovative fitness game." The game was tested by children for age-appropriateness and exercise fun.[5] The game was launched on November 10, 2010. The publishers of the game said that they were proud to deliver "an interactive entertainment experience that provides a unique way for kids to get active in their formative years.".[2]
Reception
The game was well received by critics. Cary Woodham on Gaming with Children said that the game "may not keep kids interested for very long after they’ve unlocked everything", but praised the parental controls and instruction booklet "that help separate Nickelodeon Fit from that.".[6] Christopher Healy on Common Sense Media gave the game 5 stars, stating the mini-games as "well-designed for preschoolers".[7]
