Nicola Ward

Nicola Ward

Nicola Ward began her television career on UK television show Stars in Their Eyes, where she performed as Britney Spears. In 2001, she successfully auditioned for the initial series of Pop Idol, but was eliminated before the live rounds began. She went on to reach the final ten female contestants of the music reality show Popstars The Rivals. However Ward felt exploited on the show for a number of reasons, such as being forced to wear bikinis for a singing show; feeling this was not appropriate, she left the contest.[1] Ward was replaced by eventual Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts.[2] The remainder of the 10 finalists formed the pop group Clea and the solo singer Javine Hylton.

Ward then became a member of the UK girl group 'Cookie' but stayed with the band for a limited time, appearing on no singles for that group.[3] Ward teamed up with a male vocalist to form the dance duo 'Cushh'. The duo recorded four songs but Ward quit and was replaced in 'Cushh' by a different female. In 2009 Ward was approved of by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber in his television search for a Eurovision Song Contest representative for the UK. However she did not make the final selection, eventually being won by Jade Ewen.

In January 2010, Ward appeared on several editions of the ITV1 dating show Take Me Out. She reached the final two contestants on two occasions though she was not chosen by the male contestant. The week following her second rejection, Ward vanished from the female cast and no explanation was given.

On 16 August 2010 Ward appeared in a pre-recorded segment on TV show 'Live From Studio Five' promoting her role in the Supergroup on the Sunday 19 August edition of Five's talent show 'Don't Stop Believing'. Ward was one of the original five members of the Supergroup launched on the TV show on the 19th July.
