Nicolás Mazzarino (born October 21, 1975, in Salto) is a Uruguayan professional basketball player. He has also Italian passport and currently plays in Pallacanestro Cantù of the Italian Serie A.

Pro career

Mazzarino began his professional career in Uruguayan club Hebraica y Macabi in 1993. In this club Mazzarino won the Uruguayan Championship in 1994. In 1997 he moved to C.A. Welcome, another Uruguayan basketball team, where he won 4 seasons consecutively the Liga Uruguaya de Basketball. In 2001 Mazzarino played a brief time in Argentinan team C.A. Boca Juniors, but then he returned to C.A. Welcome. In 2001 he moved to Italy to play in Viola Reggio Calabria, team where he became the captain and best scorer in the season 2004-2005. After that season he moved to Pallacanestro Cantù. In 2007-2008 he became captain of the team. His best season in this club was 2009-2010, when he helped his team to reach Serie A semifinals, averaging 13.8 points and 2.8 assist per match.

National team

Mazzarino played for Uruguay national team from 1997 to 2008. He played with Uruguay 5 South American Basketball Championships (1997, 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2008), 6 FIBA Americas Championships (1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007) and 3 Pan American Games (1999, 2003 and 2007).
