History

The station opened as Hornsby on 21 November 1895. The station and surrounding suburb was renamed Normanhurst on 1 May 1898 to avoid confusion with the present day Hornsby station, then known as Hornsby Junction.[1].

Platforms and services

Platform 1 has a covered waiting area, male and female toilets, one ticket vending machine and the station manager's office with ticketing window. It is next to Denham Parade. Platform 2 has a covered waiting area and one ticket vending machine. The station is served by four trains per hour each way, with additional trains during weekday peak hours. During off-peak hours two of these four train services towards Central terminate in Chatswood. It receives service from most suburban trains but no intercity trains, no freight trains and no Countrylink trains.
