MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY

To train competitive specialists, to conduct research and to design innovative and technological solutions for creating an economically stable and socially developed circumpolar region and ensuring high living standards, safeguarding and promotion of culture for people in the Russian north-east.


UNICITY OF THE UNIVERSITY

• participation in large investment projects aimed at administrative, social and industrial development of the Siberian and Far-Eastern federal districts; their provision with qualified and modern innovative solutions; • close connection with the Northern and Arctic issues, their unique environment, peculiarities of sustainable development of the region`s society, economy and industry; • creation of special conditions for involving students into fundamental research, including monthly scholarships of 10,000 rubles for students of mathematics and physics.

DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES

System-wide trend of development is to achieve a new quality of the university by 2020. There are 5 ways of the formation and elaboration of resource centers for the university and the region development, defined by the development specificity of the North-East of Russia, complied with requirements, established by list of the priority areas of science, technologies and engineering of the Russian federation and the list of critical technologies of the Russian Federation: • ensuring environmental safety and technologically efficient reproduction of mineral resources and environmental management. • Use of high technologies and industries in the North. • Improving the quality of life in the North. • Keeping the culture of Arctic peoples alive and its development • Analytical and staff support of innovative economic development of the north-east of Russia. Program directions include 18 projects and 98 activities.


STRAGETIC PARTNERS

Strategic partners of the NEFU Development Program: ALROSA, Surgutneftegaz, Nizhnelenskoe, Yakutskenergo companies; institutes of the Yakut Research Center, Siberian branch, Russian academy of Sciences, and others. The main mechanism of cooperation with business is the introduction of public-private partnership. Upon the program`s implementation, the university will become a remote R&D center for the Russian industry and business in the north-east, a partner of development programs and innovative projects for almost all major enterprises operating in the circumpolar area.

SOCIAL PARTNERS

Social partners: JSC Yakutcement, Moscow Psychological and Sociological Institute, Irkutsk State linguistic University, the diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). The University attaches particular importance to the agreements signed with municipal districts (uluses) of the republic (three uluses in 2010).

Rector of the Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University Evgenia Mikhailova

Doctor of Pedagogy, academician of the Petrov Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Psychological Sciences. 1996-1997 – Deputy minister of the Ministry of Education of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). 1997-2002 – Minister of Education of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). 2003-2007 – Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). On March 15, 2007 she was elected as Vice-President of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). On April 9, 2010 Evgenia Mikhaylova was appointed by the government of the Russian Federation as Rector of the M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern federal university.
