Northwest Corridor (Lancaster)

Northwest Corridor (Lancaster)

The Northwest Corridor is a Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA neighborhood. The name refers to the neighborhood's location within the city of Lancaster, and the importance of the corridor in connecting important economic and civic developments within the city, and nearby, suburban East Hempfield Township and Manheim Township. Many of the city's important amenities are located in the Northwest Corridor, including the Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster General Hospital, and Clipper Magazine Stadium, home to the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Two pikes make the Northwest Corridor a major economic, commercial, industrial, and social hub for the three most highly-populated areas of Lancaster County. Harrisburg Pike is the major thoroughfare that connects Lancaster City to the Park City Center shopping mall, and East Hempfield to important services and attractions within city limits. Fruitville Pike connects Lancaster to Manheim, a nearby, suburban township with significant commercial and industrial development.

Redevelopment

The Northwest Corridor was undergoing a large scale, planned redevelopment after construction of the Clipper Magazine Stadium began in 2004. Lancaster General Hospital and Franklin & Marshall College both planned massive building projects.
