Norwegian Guarantee Institute for Export Credits

The Norwegian Guarantee Institute for Export Credits (Norwegian: Garanti-instituttet for eksportkreditt, GIEK) is a Norwegian government agency.

It was established in 1960 with the purpose of granting guarantees for Norwegian export companies. It was a state aid to exporters who ran possible commercial risks or political risks. Organizationally, it is subordinate to the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the director is Wenche Nistad.[1] The board of directors elected in 2009 consists of Bjørn Kaldhol (chair), Malin Stensønes, Jon Lund, Christine Rødsæther, Hans Petter Aas, Arve Bakke and Mai-Lill Ibsen.[2] The headquarters are in Vika, Oslo.
