The YM2414, aka OPZ, is an eight-channel sound chip developed by Yamaha. It was designed for use in high-end MIDI synthesizers, specifically in Yamaha's DX11, YS200, TX81Z, the Korg Z3 guitar synthesizer, and as the 16-channel OPZII in the Yamaha V50.
The YM2414 has the following features:
- Eight concurrent FM channels (16 in the OPZII)
- Four operators per channel
- Eight selectable waveforms
- Dual low frequency oscillators
