Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth

The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth (CAMY) is a research and advocacy organization, based in Washington, DC, which monitors and reports on youth exposure to alcohol advertising. According to CAMY's mission statement, the organization "monitors the marketing practices of the alcohol industry to focus attention and action on industry practices that jeopardize the health and safety of America's youth." For purposes of CAMY's research, youth are defined as persons under the age of 21, which is the minimum legal age in the United State for the purchase and public possession of alcoholic beverages, although not necessarily for consumption.

Since its founding in 2002, CAMY has reported on alcohol advertising and marketing in television, magazines, radio, and the internet, and has produced approximately 20 reports. Its reports are generally based on research used by marketers and the advertising industry to plan, buy and sell advertising time and space.

CAMY is funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation by grants administered through Georgetown University.
