The parent school was established in 1968. Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, India, the school operates from Grade 1 to Grade 12 and has students from more than 22 nationalities. It is part of the GEMS Education network.

The brand new building has spacious classrooms and wide passages. The administrative offices and the lobby are centrally air-conditioned. The school has a large multi-purpose hall, a uniform store, an indoor play area for KG students, an art & craft room and a hygienic canteen. A huge canopy covers the courtyard. The whole school can assemble under its shade for morning assembly.

Library
Our Own has 3 spacious library stocked with international periodicals, newspapers and books selected for their informative and educational value catering to all age groups. Apart from these, a good collection of maps, charts, audio and video-cassettes, and CD-ROMs are available as teaching aids. Computers with internet access are available for students use in the Senior Library.
Mathematics Laboratory
Equipped with materials needed to help the students form concepts through realistic and meaningful activities.
Science Laboratories
10 large well-equipped laboratories provide the facilities necessary for demonstration, experimentation and project work at various levels in Physics, Chemistry, Robotics and Biology. A separate General Science laboratory caters to the younger students of the Middle School.
Computer Science Centre
'Our Own' was the first Asian school in the UAE to introduce computer education. We have four full-fledged computer laboratories. All laboratories have Pentium processor machines with the latest software and interactive white boards. An independent work station is made available to each student.
Play Field
Facilities are provided for Football, Swimming, Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis and Athletics. We also hire the facility of the Etisalat Academy to provide specialised training.

The school has 2 adequately equipped First-Aid centre with 2 doctor, full time nurse, attendants and helpers.
Bookstore
The bookstore is well-stocked and has adequate supplies of textbooks, stationery and uniforms. Parents are encouraged to avail this facility in order to ensure uniformity.
