Seilhan is a commune in the
Haute-Garonne department in southwesternFrance . It is located at longitude 42° 56' 44" North and latitude 0° 33' 46" E, and is extremely tiny with a population of less than 200 inhabitants in a land area of 4.68 square kilometers (5.7 mile²). The current mayor is Maurice Seilhan (2001-2008).The name "Seilhan" is thought to derive from an old
Gallo-Roman geographical name (Caelius + anum) but seems to be associated with fountains and ponds, so may derive from another word meaning "bucket." Some variations on the name include "Seilan", "Seilhean", "Seillan", and "Seillant"."Seilhan" is also a French surname. Possibly the best-known of individuals with this surname was one Pierre Seilhan of
Toulouse ,France , who along with his brother donated their Toulouse home to Father Dominic's preacher's movement as its first home in1215 . This movement later evolved into theDominican Order of theCatholic Church .External links
