Ljubomir (Ljubo) Miličević (born 13 February, 1981 in Melbourne) is an Australian football (soccer) player who is currently without a club.

Club career

Millicevic attended secondary school at St Bede's College (Mentone). He began his professional career with Melbourne Knights in Australia playing one game before moving to Perth Glory in 1999, where he played a major role in getting the Western Australian side to its first ever NSL Grand Final in 2000. He then moved to Europe and went on to play for FC Zurich, FC Basel, FC Thun and BSC Young Boys in Switzerland.

In the 2005-06 season, Miličević played five matches in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for FC Thun against teams such as Arsenal F.C. and AFC Ajax.

On February 20, 2007 it was announced that Miličević had signed for the reigning A-League champions Melbourne Victory. Miličević had been courted by a number of English Premier League clubs, including Premiership teams Arsenal FC and Newcastle United before committing to his hometown club, as he was unable to gain a UK work permit.He split with Melbourne Victory on Friday the 22nd of February 2008 by "mutual consent".

International career

He was the captain of both the Australia Under-20 and Under-23 side, the Olyroos, After being made captain he went to the U-20 World Cup in Argentina in 2001 and attracted the attention of major club scouts but suffered a serious knee injury during the tournament. This did not stop overseas interest and he soon moved to Switzerland, and, during the next 5 years played with clubs such as FC Zurich, FC Basle, FC Thun and Young Boys.

It was during the period from 2003-2006 with FC Thun that Ljubo played some of his best football, leading the club as captain through to the group stages of the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League.

He has also been capped for Australia, His senior debut was against Indonesia in 2005. He made three appearances at the 2005 Confederations Cup but was not selected in the 2006 World Cup squad.
