Bø is a municipality in the county of
Telemark ,Norway .Bø was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see
formannskapsdistrikt ). Lunde was separated from Bø 1867.Bø is famous for its waterpark Sommarland (the largest of its kind in Norway), its folk traditions and for hosting one of four branches of
Telemark University College (Høgskolen i Telemark). Bø has several times been called "the most beautiful place on earth" in modern literature, among others in Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons "A happy kid".Another popular sight in Bø is the traditional bar "Stallkroa", with its wooden interior and hillbilly clientele and the rockformation
Gygrestol .The name
The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Bø (Norse "Bœr"), since the first church was built here. The name is identical with the word "bœr" m 'homestead, farm'.
