"Jungle Run" was a children's television programme which first aired on CITV as part of the ITV Network. It is a kids' game show similar to "Fun House" and "The Crystal Maze". Since it began, the show has had three presenters.

In the game, a team of young explorers make their way through five places in the jungle. In each destination, they have to collect silver monkey statues which gives them an extra ten seconds of time inside the final location, the Temple of the Jungle King.

ITV announced in July 2007 that "Jungle Run" has not been recommissioned for a new series.

Locations

Jungle Run is located in Palmers Green, North London.

Marshes (Removed)

In the pilot, this is the only place they visit. In this zone, the team:

*floats along a raft, collecting monkey statues. If Someone falls in the water, the person that falls in cannot get to The Temple Of The Jungle King, and all statues they collected are lost.On this game there was no jungle guide, but there was a voice over.

Tiger Point (Removed)

The shows 'Start' during the Wood era, before moving to the first challenge. The location was based by Dominic Wood's old crashed Jungle Run jeep upon a hill overlonnbbking the jungle. To descend was a steep but soft leaf furnished slope.

According to some sources mini challenges include:
*Trampoline challenge
*Gold tunnel (One of the team have to go in the tunnel and turn all the gold lights and collect bananas or monkey statues on the way)
*Climb down a rope and jump down.

Angel Falls

The location 'Angel Falls' is based around a series of waterfalls, a pool of water and the Jungle King's favorite place the team must explore. Angel Falls is the newer version after the closure of the location 'Rapids' with earlier editions of the show.

The sets for Angel Falls have changed a number of times throughout the history of the show, and the final version of Angel Falls was somewhat smaller than before.

id and Elvis

Sid and Elvis are a pair of monkeys, the Jungle King's most loyal servants, who would do anything it takes to stop the kids reaching the temple. They even make some challenges harder, especially the Dark Swamp challenges, since they seem to like hanging around nearby the swamp.

On rare occasions, Sid and Elvis would kidnap one member of the team and place them in a cage where they would be discovered by the rest of the team and must be rescued. If they failed to rescue the team member, they would sacrifice a monkey statue. Rare kidnappings include the entire team being locked in a bamboo cage high up in the trees and must escape - again if the team failed in their attempt they would each sacrifice a monkey. (Removed)

At the end of each show, the monkeys lounge around outside the temple of the Jungle King, and without fail Underwood tells them to "clear off". They obey him in a most obedient fashion. They follow the orders of the Jungle King, and they do lots of stuff to stop the jungle explorers, for example, they yank the ropes which control the baskets movement upwards while people jump (or swing) for them. They always disobey the Jungle Guide's commands.

Sid and Elvis have changed colour throughout the series of Jungle Run. Sid and Elvis used to be Red and Blue in the earlier series, but then Elvis changed colour to orange. In the later editions of the show, Sid changed colour to black, and Elvis continued to be orange. Sid then went back to Red, in the later series Sid went back to black while Elvis changed to green and yellow.

There have been a notable number of complaints directed to ITV due to the alleged racism by Sid and Elvis to one of the contestants. The contestant in question was of Afro-Caribbean origin and when trapped in the 'monkey cage' shots, Sid and Elvis were feeding and taunting the trapped contestant with bananas. This edition of the show originally aired in 2004 and was re-aired on 25th January 2007 and again on 28th August 2008.

Monkey Statues

They are silver monkey statues inside all the locations in the jungle. When a team gets a silver monkey statue, they get 10 seconds in the Temple Of The Jungle King. The monkey statue with is red is the Ruby monkey that gives the team 20 seconds. It used to give them 30 seconds, but they removed that after 2 episodes. The more monkey statues they get the more time they have for the Temple Of The Jungle King, with a maximum of 3 minutes and 20 seconds. In 2007 the name monkey was swapped for sacred statue. Altogether the maximun is 18 silver monkey statues and the ruby monkey statue.

In the early series the team got yellow bananas. In one of the early locations is the golden banana. The team must find it and they will get 50 more bananas. Sid and Elvis like bananas apart they hide bananas in the very hot deep chasm. They hid them in a load of fruits.

The Temple of the Jungle King

At the end of the show, the contestants go to the Temple of the Jungle King, a series of rooms each containing a large monkey statue. The more rooms the contestants get through, the better the Idols. During the Wood era, the first monkey idol was 'Wood', then 'Stone', 'Metal', 'Silver' and the Jungle King's most precious possession, the 'Golden Monkey'. In the pilot that was never shown on CITV, it went Wood, Stone, Metal, Sapphire, And Ruby. After the Wood era, the 'Wood' monkey was phased out and the 'Metal' monkey became 'Bronze'. The 'Golden Monkey' was also changed into a different, bigger idol. Once the challenge in each chamber is completed, the door to the next room opens. In he pilot the temple was smaller, the puzzles were a lot different, an it looked like the Gardens Of Babylon

Once the team only has twenty seconds of time left in the temple, a monkey sound (Or a jungle drum low pitched beat) sounds, and the team races out before the entrance to the temple closes. If the team do not get out in time, they are locked in the temple until Sid and Elvis get them out (After the show) and receive no prizes - even if they have managed to complete some chambers.
