Gortin

Gortin (Irish: "An Goirtín") is a village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is situated ten miles (16 km) north of Omagh in the valley of the Owenkillew River, overlooked by the Sperrin Mountains. It had a population of 360 people in the 2001 Census. It at one point boasted nine pubs. The village is heavily dependent on agriculture for its economy, but the village is also trying to develop its tourism potential. Gortin is situated in the Omagh District Council area.

Places of interest

*The attraction in the area is the Gortin Glen Forest Park. This Forest Park was first opened in 1967 and covers some 15.34 km².
*The Ulster History Park closed down in recent years.
