West Virginia Radio Corporation or WVRC is a media corporation comprised exclusively of radio stations and two radio networks based in the state of West Virginia.

The company is controlled by John Raese, a former Republican candidate for the United States Senate and the Greer Family.

In December 2004, West Virginia Radio Corporation was selected as one of the top radio companies in America.

Radio markets

West Virginia Radio Corporation owns stations in four separate areas in the state of West Virginia:

* Charleston
* Morgantown/Clarksburg
* Elkins/Buckhannon
* Cumberland/Keyser

In 2006, WVRC expanded outside of West Virginia by starting brand-new station WDYK in Cumberland, Maryland. The company would later buy 3 other stations and start another new station.

At present, the two largest markets in the state where the company doesn't presently own any stations is Huntington and Wheeling. This is likely to change with the sale of Clear Channel Communications's market-dominant station groups, of which WVRC is the anticipated buyer.

Ratings

Charleston's WCHS (AM) and Morgantown's WAJR-AM are consistantly the highest or near-highest rated stations in their respective markets.

West Virginia Metro News

West Virginia Radio Corporation operates the "West Virginia Metro News" Network, which is owned by parent company Greer Industries, Inc.

"West Virginia Metro News" features on-the-hour news, political and sports talk programs, along with West Virginia University Mountaineer sports, via the company's "Mountaineer Sports Network" or "MSN". "MSN" shows are syndicated to television stations across the state.

All news and programs from "West Virginia Metro News" are offered to all WVRC stations and to other stations throughout the state whether they be owned by WVRC or not.

John Raese

Much speculation was centered on whether Raese would use WVRC stations and co-owned Dominion-Post as a political platform during his Senate, however this did not occur.
