André Deutsch

André Deutsch (1917–2000) was a 20th century British publisher. He was born in Budapest, Hungary. His small but influential publishing house from the 1950s to the 1980s included books by Fern Britton, Jack Kerouac, Earl Lovelace, Norman Mailer, V. S. Naipaul, Ogden Nash, Andrew Robinson, Philip Roth, Art Spiegelman, John Updike, and Helene Hanff, and is now an imprint of Carlton Publishing Group. Deutsch employed dedicated editor Diana Athill.

Potential confusion can arise between André Deutsch and Arnold Deutsch, due to the fact that André Deutsch was the British publisher of The Philby Conspiracy ISBN 0-345-29726-1. André Deutsch is mentioned in the book as its British publisher. Arnold Deutsch was revealed to be Kim Philby's recruiter and controller, but is not mentioned in the book.

Deutsch died on 11 April 2000, aged 82.
