Jeremy Greenwood

Jeremy John Denis Greenwood CBE is a British ornithologist and has been Director of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) since 1981. He is due to retire from that post in September 2007"British Birds", Vol. 100, No. 4, p.257, April 2007 ISSN|0007-0335] .

Greenwood was educated at Royal Grammar School WorcesterFact|date=October 2008 and St Catherine's College, OxfordFact|date=October 2008. He was responsible for publishing the two largest surveys on British bird populationsFact|date=October 2008. Besides being director of the BTO he is president of the European Ornithologists Union. He is also an honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham's Centre for Ornithology.

He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2008 New Year HonoursFact|date=October 2008.
