WEMX (94.1 FM, "Max 94.1") is a Mainstream Urban formatted radio station serving the Baton Rouge area. The Citadel Broadcasting Corporation station broadcasts with an ERP of 100 kW and is licensed to Kentwood, Louisiana.

History

The station, which originally served McComb, Mississippi before moving into Baton Rouge in 1993 as a Country outlet (as WYCT and later as WEMX), flipped to R&B/Hip-Hop on January 1, 1997. The WEMX calls and Max 94.1 handle is a holdover from its former format. Their current slogan is "#1 For Hip-Hop And R&B!"

Trivia

The station's current PD "J-Tweezy" made a guest appearance on the 504 Boyz 2000 hit "Wobble Wobble".
