History

In early 1995, Das Erste started its new soap opera "Verbotene Liebe". The project was initially planned for RTL, but they didn't trust whether the concept, about a love story between brother and sister, would have success. Das Erste took on the project and after the first scene - everybody knew it: Jan (Andreas Brucker) and Julia (Valerie Niehaus) are meant to be.

The affecting story about the two siblings to protract over 500 Episodes. After that, the storyline changed and new characters came into the show. But the theme was still the same - a show about love and intrigues. Most characters took care of the loving and the others took care of being beasts or villains. In the beginning that was Clarissa (Isa Jank) and Tanja (Miriam Lahnstein).

The story of Jan and Julia had changed and returned with the love story of Henning von Anstetten (Patrick Fichte) and Marie von Beyenbach (Solveig Duda). They were a dream couple, but Tanja wanted to marry Henning, because of his money. She fakes a DNA-Test and made Henning and Marie believe that they are half-siblings. Marie and Henning were desperate and went into relationships with other people. When the truth came out, Henning and Marie were reunited and got married. But on their wedding day Henning died, after a fight with Marie's ex-boyfriend. [ [http://www.vl-marienhof.de/verbotene_liebe/history.php Deutsche-Dailys.de Summary for Verbotene Liebe] ]

A reunion of the "brother and sister"-story came in 2006, when the young Sarah Hofmann (Sina-Valeska Jung) came to Düsseldorf to find her biological mother. She began to work on Königsbrunn Castle and met Leonard von Lahnstein (Lars Korten) and fell in love with him. Her biological mother turned out to be Elke Käppler (Elke Bludau), the head maid of the castle. She is against the relationship between Sarah and Leonard, because her biggest secret is in danger. Sarah is the daughter of Johannes von Lahnstein (Thomas Gumpert). In 2007 Leonard decided to marry another woman, Jana Brandner (Vanessa Jung), but - on his wedding-day - he finds out that he is not Johannes' biological son. After this, Leonard has a hard time trying to deal with the fact that Adrian Degenhardt (Klaus Zmorek) is his real father and that Sarah isn't his half sister. He keeps that secret for awhile, but Sarah finds out about it, after her husband Gregor Mann (Andreas Jancke) gets a letter from Adrian. She struggles with her feelings, but by the time she finds out she is pregnant with Gregor's child and she sees no future for Leonard and her. Later, Leonard tells Jana the truth and she feels threatened by Sarah. She proves herself right when she finds out that Leonard and Sarah slept together once when they were already married. Jana can't forgive Leonard and leaves him, but he fights for her and wants to start a new life with her in Chicago. Jana gives her marriage another chance and makes peace with Sarah, before they leave Düsseldorf for good. But then Jana overhears when Sarah tells Leonard that she still loves him and that he can't leave her. Jana runs away after a fight with Sarah, but Sarah follows her. They end up together in a terrible car accident.
