The 22nd Grammy Awards were held February 27, 1980, and were broadcast live on American television. They recognized accomplishments by musicians from the year 1979. The Awards introduced a new category, for Best Disco Recording, although this was to be short-lived, and did not survive to the 23rd Grammy Awards.
