Queenslie

Queenslie

Queenslie is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated just to the east of Cranhill and west of Easterhouse. Modern Queenslie started as an industrial estate in the 1950s with housing added a short time later. The housing has since been demolished.

The Name----The name is an anglicised corruption of its original Scots name of Cowhunchollie. Easter and Wester Cowhunchollie were separate properties and reputedly were parts of the Lands of Provan.Fact|date=February 2008

Of the modern name Queenslie James Kaye said, "Its an awfu' genteel world noo".
