- Farshid Moussavi
Farshid Moussavi is an architect, co-founder of Foreign Office Architects (FOA), and "Professor in Practice of Architecture" at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, USA.
Born 1965 in
Shiraz ,Iran , Moussavi trained at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, University College London, and Dundee University. She has taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, the Architectural Association, the Berlage Institute, and the Hoger Architecture Institute, and in the United States at Harvard, Columbia, and Princeton Universities, as well as at the University of California at Los Angeles. She published The Function of Ornament in 2006, based on her research and teaching at Harvard.Professor Moussavi currently serves on a number of design and architecture advisory groups for the British Council and the Mayor of London’s ‘Design for London’ imitative, and previously for the London Development Agency, RIBA Gold and Presidential Medals and the Sterling Prize for Architecture. In 2004, she was Chair of Master Jury of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, having been a member of the Steering Committee since 2005.
Her London-based firm, Foreign Office Architects (FOA), is noted as one of the world's most creative design firms, integrating architecture, urban design, and landscape architecture in a wide range of projects internationally.
