Port Kirwan is a small incorporated fishing community located on the southern shore of the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland, Canada. The community so named after a Reverend Mother Mary Bernard Kirwan, foundress of Presentation Sisters of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1853.

Incorporated in 1965 as Port Kirwan, from the early 1700s to 1960 the community was originally known as Admiral’s Cove, named after English fishing admirals who used to dock in the harbour. Adjacent to Fermeuse harbour, Portuguese fishermen used the harbour in the 1500s. English year round settlers began arriving in the mid 1700s. Later, in the early 1800s many Irish settlers arrived in the area.

The community is also the site of a cookhouse dated back to the early 1600s. located within the community is the Mike Shallow Community Centre, named after a famous boxer.

The community is located on the area know as The Irish Loop. The Irish Loop is comprised of many unique and culturally rich communities that hold fast to the dialect, culture, and the way of life of their ancestors from Ireland.
