Brooklyn High School of the Arts, (BHSA) is a New York City Public High School located in Boerum Hill in Brooklyn. It is the first and currently, the only high school in the United States to offer a major in Historic Preservation, otherwise known as Preservation Arts. The school has other majors including Fine Art (visual and design), Dance (performing arts), Instrumental Music (performing arts), and Vocal Music (performing arts). Students must audition for which ever major they may choose before the teaching staff of that major. The school is new, having their first graduating class in June of 2004. Hip-hop recording artist Jeannie Ortega was also part of the first graduating class. They have a student population of about 725 students in grades 9 through 12. The school is sponsored and has partnerships by such corporations as, Invesco, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 101.1 WCBS FM, and the World Monuments Fund. The school has extracurricular activities such as Drama Club, Peer Mediation, Student Advisory Council and the National Honor Society. The principal is Robert W. Finley III. Despite the above, the school still carries a reputation for being "typical inner-city school."

The high school also offers summer internships via the Preservation Arts program. Students can intern at various architecture, construction and engineering firms around New York. Interns are paid by the school instead of the employers.
