Andrew Derek Taylor (born August 1, 1986 in Hartlepool, County Durham) is an English footballer who plays for Middlesbrough.

Club career

A graduate of Middlesbrough's youth academy, Taylor rose to prominence for his boyhood club after being recalled from a loan spell at Bradford City.

During the 2005–06 season, Boro reached the FA Cup Semi-Final and the Uefa Cup Final. With only Franck Queudrue able to play at left-back, Steve McClaren brought Taylor back from Bradford, where he had impressed on loan.

He played in several Premiership matches and the FA Cup semi-final to save Queudrue for the Uefa Cup tie with Sevilla. Linking up with fellow Boro graduate Stewart Downing, the homegrown duo combined well down the left flank. His impressive form meant he was unlucky to miss out on a starting place against Sevilla.

Queudrue departed Middlesbrough for Fulham at the end of that season and, despite the signing of Julio Arca, Taylor cemented his place in the first team. Throughout the 2006–07 season, Taylor was a regular member of the team, and is now regarded as the first choice left-back.

Taylor signed a one year extension to his contract in January 2008, which would see him remain at the club until June 2011. International career

Taylor was part of England's Under-19 Championship team in 2005, in which they finished runners-up to France. He was also selected for the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
