nihongo|Ingrid|イングリッド|Inguriddo is a video game character from the fighting game "Capcom Fighting Evolution" and the PSP version of "Street Fighter Alpha 3", and was designed by Hidetoshi Ishizawa (Neo_G). She also goes by the alias "Eternal Goddess." In the cancelled "Capcom Fighting All-Stars", she had the nickname "Eternal Ray" (most likely relating to a ray of sunshine, given her attack theme).

Game appearances

Capcom Fighting All-Stars

Details about her character in "Capcom Fighting All-Stars" are sketchy, other than she is the "Sun Goddess", and unlike the other characters specific to the game was born with her powers. She has one of the codes to disable Death's bomb threatening Metro City ("Isis").

Capcom Fighting Evolution

Ingrid is involved in the game's events to deal with the surrounding chaos caused by Bison [Reflected in her winquote to him] and others, and undo Pyron's change to reality. Her ending shows her channeling her abilities through the disks that are on either side of her head, and by the game's end removes the disks before leaving. Given the nature of the endings and the lack of dialogue, it is left ambiguous.

In her "CFE" spriteset, sprite number 200 (starting from 0) is an odd miscolored sprite of a man. When the correct palette is applied to it (the one also used for her "Midnight Bliss" sprite), [http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7715/wtf7al1cp.pngthe result] is a sprite that resembles Hard Gay. Exact reason for this sprite appearing in her set, or why it shares her Midnight Bliss palette, is anyone's guess.

Her theme song, entitled "Heat Haze", was sung by Maiko Kubo, and contains a series of six notes that resemble part of the opening riff from "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly. This makes her the only "Street Fighter" character to have a full set of lyrics present in her stage theme, as opposed to vocal samples such as in Elena's theme.

treet Fighter Alpha 3 MAX

Little of anything is known about Ingrid, however, the PSP version of "Street Fighter Alpha 3" gives away some possibilities about her true origins.

She tells Rose to think of her as "an envoy from the heavens", and alludes to the existence of others like her. Judging from her speech patterns in the Japanese version of the game, it can be inferred that Ingrid is actually a lot older than she looks.

She's shown to be able to break brainwashing/mind control over her opponents (such as shown with Ryu in game) [Ryu: "Unghh... Huh?! Wha... Where am I? You... you saved me...Thank you.." / "Ingrid: It seems someone was controlling you like an evil puppet." SFA3 MAX in-game storyline] . Ingrid also possesses psychic abilities similar to Rose, as she addressed Ryu and Rose by name even though both never revealed their names to her. [Ingrid: "Farewell Ryu. Good luck in your pursuit of knowledge." Ryu: What?! You know who I am?! How do you know so much?!" SFA3 MAX in-game storyline.] Rose, on the other hand, cannot look into Ingrid's future as she did with other Street Fighters. [Rose: "I can't see your future, or your past. All I see is a white haze." SFA3 MAX in-game storyline.]

She states that the core of the Psycho Drive (M. Bison's power enhancer) actually belonged to her in the first place, and she intends to take it back. How Bison came into possession of the item is never exactly explained, though it's similar in appearance to the crests on her head. When Bison is eventually defeated, she comments that a regular human being like him couldn't possibly control that energy, and takes the whole Psycho Drive with her as she leaves.

Finally, she apparently has the ability to travel through time, as she mentions heading to the year 201X in order to contact Ryu in her ending (in the English version, that ending was mistranslated and alluded to Ryu becoming a monk in the future, when Ingrid actually simply called him a nihongo|"kid"|小僧|kozō, yet another indication that she's not as young as she appears to be).

Gameplay

While "CFAS" was never completed, her gameplay in "CFE" (and later "SFA3 MAX") seems for the most part unchanged save for her "Sun Shot" traveling much farther distance in a sine wave pattern, as shown by the [http://media.cheats.ign.com/media/489/489201/vids_1.html video] here.
