] Sequent was created by Raja Kushalnagar ("Duke of Sequent") at the University of California, Berkeley and first released in 1991. Within months other mudders picked up the codebase and began to modify it for their own MUDs, most notably Copper MUD, whose source code in turn was used for the popular Merc codebase. [cite web
