Description

In the book the author states his views regarding human rights in Islamic states, women in Islam, and some elements of the moral code that Muslims take from the Qur'an and the example of Muhammad. The author explores the question of why Islam was once a fertile soil for the flourishing of science and culture, but is no longer, and what this change entails for present-day relations between Islam and the West. Another historical question addressed is the issue of Islamic tolerance of religious minorities. The author then looks into the Crusades to evaluate whether the negative view that has been assigned in the contemporary debate is actually justified.
