John Van Hamersveld

John Van Hamersveld

John Van Hamersveld (born 1941, Baltimore) was responsible for many of the recognizable pop art images of the 1960s and 1970s including album covers, concert posters and the classic movie poster for "The Endless Summer". While working with Mary Van Hamersveld in their Los Angeles studio Van Hamersveld created the "grinning Johnny" image. He is said to be the inspiration for what later became the Rolling Stones' "tongue logo".
