It was the sixth installment in Toei Company's Super Sentai series of tokusatsu television dramas. It aired on TV Asahi from February 6, 1982 to January 21, 1983, with a total of 50 episodes. It was the most-watched Super Sentai series in Japan as of 2006Fact|date=August 2008.

Plot summary

The Dark Science Empire Death Dark launches its scheme for world conquest from their Wolfborg Castle in Germany. Dr. Hongou, founder of the Future Science Laboratory, is saved from one of their attacks by world class explorer Ken'ichi Akama. Using his Computer Boys & Girls, Hongou recruits five people, including Akama, to form the Great Squadron Goggle V (Goggle 5), the only force capable of stopping Deathdark.

Dark Science Empire Deathdark

From the time when iron was discovered in ancient Turkey, the nihongo|Dark Science Empire Death Dark|暗黒科学帝国デスダーク|Ankoku Kagaku Teikoku Desudāku have existed to move the world in the shadows. United by Fuehrer Taboo, they are Death Dark. A mobilecastle-shaped fortress called the nihongo|Dark Giant Castle Deathtopia|暗黒巨大城デストピア|Ankoku Kyodai Jō Desutopia launches giant robots from its gate. It is usually underwater but can fly. When in flight, its high-power propulsion winds wreak destructive chaos underneath.

*nihongo|Führer Taboo|総統タブー|Sōtō Tabū - A one-eyed 'super gene' product of genetic engineering that hides behind a translucent wall until emerging, giant-sized, for the finale. He is merciless and unforgiving and seeks to reform the Earth in his image. He was ultimately destroyed by the Goggle Robo with the eye-poking Galactic Missile Sword Attack.

*nihongo|General Deathgiller|デスギラー将軍|Desugirā Shōgun (1-49) - A swordsman field commander in black. He piloted the last of the Kongs, Bear Kong before his death.

The Synthetic Beasts (Mozoos) are the combinations of animal genes and metal atoms. When defeated, the Refresh Power ray gives them enough energy to enable them to pilot their Kongs. * In the Philippines, Goggle V was aired on RPN 9. The Philippine dub renamed Fuehrer Taboo as Totopama.
* In Brazil, the series was aired on Rede Bandeirantes and Rede Record in the early nineties, following the success of "Dengeki Sentai Changeman" and "Choushinsei Flashman" in the previous decade. However, due to the superexposition of Tokusatsu in Brazilian television at the time and a technically precarious dub, Goggle V failed to reach the same popularity of Changeman and Flashman.
* This Super Sentai series was very popular in Indonesia during the mid 1980s. It was readily available in Betamax format for rental during that time.
