Club career

A native of the London Borough of Hackney, Knight began his career as a trainee at Chelsea, spending loan periods at Queens Park Rangers, [cite news | title = Holloway secures Knight deal | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/q/qpr/1210627.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2001-03-01 | accessdate = 2008-01-06] Huddersfield Town, [cite news | title = Terriers land Knight | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/huddersfield_town/1666857.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2001-11-20

] Sheffield Wednesday [cite news | title = Knight makes Owls switch | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/2067014.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2002-06-26 | accessdate = 2008-01-06] and Brighton & Hove Albion [cite news | title = Knight joins Brighton | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/brighton/3093473.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2003-07-23 | accessdate = 2008-01-06] before joining Brighton on a permanent contract in August 2003. Although his transfer was initially free, £50,000 was to be paid if Brighton were promoted. It was Knight himself who secured this, with his penalty against Bristol City in the play-off final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in 2004.

After falling out with Brighton manager Mark McGhee, Knight moved to Swansea City in January 2006, [cite news | title = Knight quits Brighton for Swansea| url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/4578232.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2006-01-06 | accessdate = 2008-01-06] and scored a hat-trick on his debut against Milton Keynes Dons. [cite news | title = Swansea 3-1 MK Dons | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/4590196.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2006-01-10 | accessdate = 2008-01-06]

Knight's stay at the Liberty Stadium was short-lived, as he was placed on the transfer list in October 2006, [cite news | title = Knight transfer-listed by Swans | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/6053222.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2006-10-16

] and, after a short spell on loan with Barnsley, joined Milton Keynes Dons in January 2007. [cite news | title = MK Dons sign Swans striker Knight | url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/wimbledon/6290487.stm | publisher = BBC Sport | date = 2007-01-23 | accessdate = 2008-01-06]

In January 2008, Knight signed for Wycombe Wanderers, just one year after joining MK Dons. On 19 August 2008, Knight's contract was "terminated by mutual consent", after he scored five goals in 20 appearances during his short stay with Wycombe.
